Taiwanese Spyplane Pilot Remembers Cold War Flights Over China  

Sept. 10 panel discussion looks at secret U.S./Taiwan U-2 missions  


SEATTLE, Aug. 22, 2011--A Sept. 10 panel discussion looks at a little-known Cold War spyplane program run by the Taiwanese Air Force in cooperation with the United States military. Lockheed Martin engineer Li Wang will discuss the Taiwanese Air Force 35th Squadron, the "Black Cat Squadron," that flew Lockheed U-2s on secret reconnaissance missions over mainland China during the 1960s and early 1970s. Wang will be joined by veteran Taiwanese pilot Capt. Johnny Shen. The program is free with admission to the Museum.

The non-profit Museum of Flight is one of the largest independent air and space museums in the world. The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $16 for adults, $14 for seniors 65 and older, $13 for active military, $9 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
