Model flyers on display at the Museum on Sunday, Nov. 8

SEATTLE, Oct. 22, 2009--Discover the hobbies of flyable model airplanes with the Flaming Geyser Flyers Model Aviation Exhibition at The Museum of Flight on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The displays will include model airplanes of every size and type of radio control, free flight and control line models. Model enthusiasts will be on hand to answer visitors' questions. The exhibition is in the Museum's Side Gallery, and is free with Museum admission.

This prestigious showcase of Northwest model airplanes looks at both the history and the future of model aviation. Engineering marvels include radio control parachutists and flying boats. The event is organized by the Flaming Geyser Flyers Radio Controlled Association.

Fans of model airplanes can also see the Museum's extensive Holtgrewe Model Collection. This collection of 1/72 scale models is probably the most complete collection of its kind, representing over 400 WWII aircraft. The models were constructed by Dr. Logan Holtgrewe over a period of seven years. Visitors will find the collection in the WWII gallery of the J. Elroy McCaw Personal Courage Wing (PCW). Motor enthusiasts can see some of the Museum's collection of vintage aircraft engines on view in the Great Gallery and the PCW.
