Challenger Learning Center Public Missions - A Unique Experience for Families

A family experience that is out of this world! The Challenger Learning Center is a simulated space mission that uses hands-on, inquiry based activities to engage participants in teamwork, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking.

Voyage to Mars

In this mission, your group is traveling to Mars to replace a crew of astronauts who have been living there for the past two years. In addition to landing on the Martian surface, the team collects and analyzes geologic samples, and launches exploratory probes to the two moons of Mars.

Dates:

  • July 28; pre-register by July 20
  • Oct. 28; pre-register by Oct. 19
  • Nov. 24; pre-register by Nov. 16
  • Dec. 28; pre-register by Dec. 21

Time: 11 am – 1 pm

Cost: $15 per participant (Museum admission not included).

Adult chaperones may observe the program, but non-members must purchase separate museum admission.

Audience: Ages 10 and up. Youth under 16 years old must be accompanied by adult participant. One adult minimum per 5 youth.

Pre-requisites: Ability to read at a 5th grade level and have basic computer skills. Familiarity with email.

Pre-registration is required – 206-764-1384

Cancellation policy: A full refund will be made if you cancel at least 3 working days prior to the program. No refund will be made after that date. There are no partial refunds. This program requires a minimum number of participants. You will be notified, and a full refund issued, if this event is cancelled.

Commemorate the birth of Giovanni Domenico Cassini and learn about this famed astronomer, mathematician and engineer. Throughout the day, festivities will include astronomical activities and games, presentations about NASA’s Cassini mission, and planetarium shows!

Go back in time with a Docent led tour of our Personal Courage Wing featuring our WWI and WWII galleries. Our Docent will tell you about the planes that flew but more important, about the pilots that flew them. After your lunch break (included in the price of admissions) you will experience dogfights and more in our Aviation Learning Center flight simulation lab. See who has bragging rights, Mom, Dad or the kids!
