NASA astrophysicist Amber Straughn shares insights about the Hubble's successor

SEATTLE, Dec. 29, 2014-- Photo of globular cluster. NASA astrophysicist Dr. Amber Straughn will deliver a free lecture about the James Webb Space Telescope at The Museum of Flight on Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m. Straughn is the Deputy Project Scientist for this giant successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. With her savvy ability to make complicated science sound simple, Straughn has appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Spike TV, The History Channel, Xploration Outer Space, National Geographic, and NOVA.

Planned for a 2018 launch, the James Webb Space Telescope will be the premier observatory of the next decade, serving thousands of astronomers worldwide. It will study every phase in the history of the universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our Solar System.
