Grand Opening of Raisbeck Aviation High School
When:Thursday, October 17, 2013 -
Location:East Parking Lot
On October 17th, The Museum of Flight will be the epicenter of yet another incredible event. Join us in celebration of the grand opening of Raisbeck Aviation High School (RAHS) at its new location on the Museum of Flight’s northwest campus. RAHS is part of Highline Public Schools.
At 9:15 a.m., an Alaska Airlines 737-900ER will touch down at the Museum of Flight. More than 150 RAHS students, alumni, staff, parents, and celebrity guests, will disembark the jet to a red carpet reception in the Museum’s East Parking lot. Joining them will be Governor Jay Inslee and internationally-acclaimed engineer James Raisbeck, for whom the school is named. In addition to Governor Inslee, Senator Patty Murray and Congressman Adam Smith will be in attendance.
At 10:00 a.m., following remarks from Museum of Flight President Doug King and other dignitaries, the formal dedication program will begin at RAHS, showcasing both the significance of the RAHS model in public education and the unique private-public partnership that helped build the state-of-the-art learning facility. This program will be live-streamed in the Museum’s own William Allen theater from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and all are invited to come watch. The theater presentation is free with daily admission to The Museum of Flight.
