Air mail spawned the airlines we know today. From 1934 until 1978, they were closely regulated by the federal government. Over the years, a variety of carriers flying a wide range of aircraft served Seattle. Steve Ellis, a museum docent and commercial aviation enthusiast, will discuss the first 35 years of airline service in Seattle from 1926 with the introduction of the air mail to the beginning of jetliners in the early 1960s, on Saturday, January 4, 9 a.m. in the Red Barn.
