Spirit of Flight 2013

The Museum of Flight is once again hosting its annual Spirit of Flight juried photography exhibition. Exhibit participation is open to all photographers, and photographs need only reflect a "Spirit of Flight". The exhibit is now on display in the Museum's Great Gallery and runs through September 1, 2013.

2013 marks the fifth anniversary of this popular exhibit and this year's show is better than ever. The Museum received hundreds of submissions from over 20 states and countries as far away as Israel. From those entries, a jury made up of representatives from the Museum's curatorial, exhibits and marketing staff selected 40 outstanding photographs to go on display.

How to Enter:

Though the 2013 exhibit is now selected and open, we plan to do another Spirit of Flight show in 2014. If you are interested in being a future Spirit of Flight photographer, keep taking pictures and watch the website for next year's submission announcement. The entry process usually begins in January.

Entry for the 2013 Spirit of Flight is now closed, but if you would like to consider entering next year's show, check out the information below to help plan ahead.

  1. Download and review the Call for Entries here(Returning photographers, please look this over as it provides details on the changes we made this year.)
  2. Submit your photos online. All entries can be submitted through the Museum's contest page at SmarterEntry.com. First-time users will be required to set up a free SmarterEntry account. The contest entry fee can then be submitted along with photo images by selecting "purchase competitions" at the bottom of the Museum's contest page.
