8th Annual Women Fly! Program Returns to The Museum of Flight for Women's History Month

Women Fly! is The Museum of Flight's premier, annual two-day event. On Friday, March 13, more than 100 young women ages 13-17 will participate in a day of motivational and career-oriented activities that will allow them to meet and learn from professional women working in a variety of flight-related careers. Volunteering their time are 31 women professionals: airport operators, pilots, air traffic controllers, Mars robot operators, and engineers in all disciplines.

Highlighting the activities is a multi-generational panel of women sharing experiences dating from the Second World War to today's exploration of Mars. Former Women Air Force Service Pilot (WASP) Dawn Seymour and former "Rosie the Riveter," Georgie Bright Kunkel, embody "the greatest generation."  Today's aerospace role models are represented by Kimberly Scott, who flies for both Alaska Airlines and the USAF; and Caroline Chouinard, who was part of the all-women team that remotely "drove" NASA's Spirit rover on the planet Mars. The day's activities include tours of Boeing Field, operation of the Museum's flight simulators, airplane tours, workshops, college fair, and networking with the panel.

Over a 100 teens have already registered for the event.

The schedule:

8:30 a.m.-- Registration Opens
9 a.m. -- Welcome Address
9:30 a.m.-- Scenario-based activities and career explorations including airport tours,simulated flights, interactive demonstrations and more.
11:45 a.m. -- Networking and Lunch
1 p.m. -- Panel discussion "Pushing the Envelope - Pioneers in Aerospace"
2 p.m. -- Networking and Museum Tours

The panelists will return for a public program on Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m. Program is free with Museum admission.
