Armed Forces Day Celebration May 18

Outdoor activities with military flag raising ceremonies,  

live country music and military displays

 

 

SEATTLE, May 2, 2013--On May 18 The Museum of Flight commemorates Armed Forces Day with the Navy League of the United States, the Air Force Association, and the Association of the United States Army. Family events from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. include distinguished military speakers, a country music concert, and military equipment displays.
Active military personnel and their families (up to five people total) will be admitted to the Museum for free.  

At 11 a.m. there will be a program and discussion with U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Keith A. Taylor and U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Mark R. Wise. A flag raising ceremony in front of the Museum at noon will include flags of the five service branches and the POW/MIA flag. Military recruiters and ROTC groups will also be on hand throughout the day.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is id="mce_marker"8 for adults, id="mce_marker"5 for seniors 65 and older, id="mce_marker"5 for active military, id="mce_marker"0 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5. Group rates are available. Admission on the first Thursday of the month is free from 5 to 9 p.m. courtesy of Wells Fargo. McCormick & Schmick's Wings Café is on site.
