Aviation movie expert Mark Carlson looks at flying on the silver screen

SEATTLE, Dec. 17, 2013--Just in time for the 2014 Oscar nominations, on Jan. 11 aviation movie expert and author Mark Carlson will lead a presentation based upon his book, "Flying on Film: A Century of Aviation in the Movies, 1912-2012." His decades-long devotion to aviation movies has given him access and insights into the people who lived the world of airplanes and the movies. Topics during the 2:30 p.m. program include Hollywood special effects from the earliest aerial photography to today's digital realm. The lecture is free with admission to the Museum.

Carlson will have a dialogue the audience after his program, followed by a free book signing in the Museum lobby.

The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors 65 and older, $15 for active military, $10 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
