SEATTLE, May 4, 2012--The Museum of Flight will celebrate May 19, Armed Forces Day, with a static display of military helicopters and other assets in the Museum parking lot, a lecture by the Navy's Commander of the USS Nimitz Aircraft Carrier Strike Group, and a military flag raising ceremony. The aircraft displays and flag ceremony are free, the lecture is free with admission to the Museum. Museum admission is free to active military personnel and their families on this day.
Armed Forces Day Schedule
Military Aircraft, Boat and Vehicle Display
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Museum of Flight will observe Armed Forces Day with a public display of assets from the various branches of the Armed Forces. Vehicles on view to include Chinook, Blackhawk, Dolphin and Kiowa helicopters and a RB-S Harbor Patrol Boat.
Presentation with Rear Adm. Peter A. Gumataotao
11 a.m. to Noon
"The Lives of Active Duty Military Personnel"
U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Peter A. Gumataotao, Commander of the USS Nimitz Aircraft Carrier Strike Group, will share his insights into the lives of men and women who serve in today's U.S. military.
Flag Raising Ceremony
Noon to 12:40 p.m.
In observance of Armed Forces Day, the Air Force Association, the Navy League of the United States and the Association of the United States Army are donating flags of the five branches and the POW/MIA flag to the Museum. The flags will be raised during a ceremony on the Museum's south lawn.
