CubeSatellites were invented with the express purpose of allowing undergraduate and graduate students get hands on experience developing space technology. The University of Washington Department of Earth and Space Sciences is home to the Husky Satellite Lab which is currently developing a CubeSat named HuskySat. HuskySat, about the size of a loaf of bread, is going to be delivered to NASA this year and will be used to test new space technologies developed in the University of Washington Advanced Propulsion Laboratory.
