Birthday Alert!

Send birthday cards now and join the party for three wonderful men of the Greatest Generation on Feb. 27!

Please help us all give a grand birthday celebration for three of the greatest guys you’ll ever meet. Their combined age is pushing 300, and each one of these gentlemen volunteers their precious time every week with countless Museum visitors! This month Dick Nelms turns 97, Paul Weaver 98, and youngster Jim Marich will be 95 in October. They are all combat veterans of World War II.

We are throwing the gents a public party at the Museum on Thursday, February 27 at 1 p.m., and to start the show we want to give them as many birthday cards as possible—this is where you can help! Send cards with your birthday greetings and thanks for their service.

This event is FREE with Museum admission!

The Birthday Boys:

Jim Marich
Jim enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served as a B-29 flight engineer during World War II. After the War he spent 40 years with Sundstrand Corporation in Project Engineering, Marketing, and Product Line Management.

Dick Nelms
Dick flew 35 missions as a co-pilot and pilot in B-17s during World War II. After the War he became a commercial artist and art director for the next 45 years.

Paul Weaver
Paul worked flight maintenance on the USS Lexington aircraft carrier during World War II. During his career with Boeing after the War, he worked on experimental flight tests of aircraft from the Boeing 367-80/Dash 80 to the 747. Paul started volunteering for the Museum over 50 years ago!

Everyone is invited to attend the celebration, where Dick, Paul and Jim will tell you all about their amazing experiences (seems like the party’s more for us, right?!).

Send them a Birthday Greeting!

Please take a few minutes to write a card to these men who have given us all more than we can imagine. Deadline is Wednesday, February 26! Did someone say “snail mail?” Mail your birthday cards or drop them off at the Museum:
