The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park opening and dedication is planned for Saturday, May 25, 2019 at The Museum of Flight.
A Place of Honor
One of The Museum of Flight’s largest
and most iconic aircraft, the Boeing B-52G
Stratofortress 59-2584 Midnight Express, has
been lost in plain sight for the past 28 years.
This veteran warbird has been restored to its
former glory and will have a new home in a
place of honor on the Museum’s campus at
The restored Midnight Express will reside on the west side of the Museum’s Aviation Pavilion in a serene park-like setting where visitors can reflect upon the B-52 and the nearly 8,000 other U.S. military aircraft lost during Vietnam.
The plane will be joined by a statue depicting a returning aviator and five military branch flags to honor the veterans who served in all military branches between 1955 and 1975.
