SEATTLE, Oct. 25, 2017--Aviation
as a force of war since 1914 is examined from many perspectives all
Nov. 4-5 weekend. The programs include aircraft tours, living history
performances and music each day, with special lectures by artists,
authors, veterans and museum curators.
On Saturday
Nov. 4, authors and historians look at World War I and II, and veterans
of the Vietnam War meet in a panel discussion of the Vietnam experience
from the perspective of air combat veterans. A ticketed evening reception and lecture will focus on propaganda of the Third Reich. Sunday
Nov. 5's programs feature two artists' views of World War I, and the
curators from several aviation, combat and undersea museums discuss the
dilemmas of displaying military objects in public. All programs free
with Museum admission (except Nov. 4 evening event).
Exhibiting partners include Distinguished Flying Cross Society,Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum, Seattle Holocaust Center, Naval Undersea Museum, and Dogs on Deployment.

World War I - Endure the Dawn
Lecture and book signing with author
David Bly. Bly will present an overview of World War I aviation as
depicted in his novel about the Royal Flying Corps in World War I,
Endure the Dawn.
2 p.m.
The Vietnam War - Perspectives from Air Combat Veterans
Moderated panel with Vietnam War veteran
bomber, fighter and helicopter pilots, one of whom was shot down in 1966
and spent six years as a prisoner of war.
5:30 p.m.
World War II - Explaining Hitler and the Rise of the Third Reich
Evening reception, lecture and book signing with historian and author Edward E. Gordon. This
program will focus on how Hitler, with the help of Joseph Goebbels,
masterfully turned a wide variety of mass media into a propaganda
machine to win over the German people. Gordon is the author/co-author of 19 books and has appeared on the PBS News Hour, CNN, NBC, and NPR. Tickets $10/$5.

World War I - Wood and Canvas
Meet and greet with aviation artist Jim Deitz, who will give a personal tour of his exhibit of paintings depicting World War I aviation. Open to Museum Members only.

World War I - Passion and Perspective
Artist Thom von Ross will
present a series of contemporary paintings which focus on the young men
who fought in the skies over Europe during World War I.

About The Museum of Flight:
Founded in 1965, the independent, nonprofit Museum of Flight is one

daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Museum admission for adults is $23.00
on-site and $21.00 online. Youth 5 through 17 are $14.00 on-site and $13
online, youth 4 and under are free. Seniors 65 and over $19 on-site and
$18 online. Groups of ten or more: $21.00 per adult, $13.00 per youth,
