SEATTLE, Feb. 7, 2022—The Museum hosts one of North America’s largest displays of scale models on Feb. 19-20 with the 2022 NorthWest Scale Modelers Show. Visitors will see hundreds of exquisitely crafted model aircraft, spacecraft, cars, tanks, ships and figures depicting the glorious diversity of transportation design during the last 120 years. The event surrounds the infamous Blackbird spyplane and is free with admission to the Museum.
While the emphasis is on aviation from the earliest flying machines to today’s fastest jets both military and civilian, creations from the world of sci-fi also are also realized in astonishing detail. There will also be a special display commemorating the Cold War-era Vought F-8 Crusader jet fighter.
Visitors are encouraged to engage with the expert modelers on hand sharing their craft and tricks of the trade, including airbrushing, weathering techniques and armor modeling tricks.
