SEATTLE, March 30, 2023—Mission Control is ready for the April 8 liftoff of Seattle’s annual space age extravaganza-- Yuri’s Night. The 6-11 p.m. 21+ dance party will transform the Museum into an intergalactic nightclub celebrating real and imagined spaceflight with music, art, astronauts, VR, cosplay and more. Driving the dance floor will be some of the best electronic music DJs from Seattle and beyond, with Justin Martin, Frida K and Jesse Leer taking center stage.
Spaceflight Celebrities
Yuri’s Night booster stage ignites at 6:30 p.m. for a 45-minute flight in the Space Lounge, where astronaut Nicholas Patrick and veteran spacesuit tester Bill Ayrey will chat with visitors about the ins and outs of clever spacesuit design and use. The two will remain for the evening to continue conversations with Yuri’s Night revelers.
Otherworldly Fun
Also within Yuri’s Night orbit will be VR experiences to Mars, fantastic photo ops and fun space-tivities. Cash bars and eclectic mix of food trucks will provide sustenance to the revelers. Space-themed costumes are highly encouraged.
Tickets: $55 General/$50 Museum Members. 21+ only; I.D. required.
The spirit of Yuri’s Night will continue in downtown Seattle at the official Noise Complaint Yuri’s Night After Party at Supernova. Tickets $15.
Yuri’s Night parties and events are held around the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human to venture into space on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981. The Museum of Flight’s celebration is one of the world’s largest Yuri’s Night events.
