Program Participants

Museum education programs personnel reserve the right to terminate and/or refuse programming/activities, remove participants, and take other steps as they deem necessary without notice or refund for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Any physical, verbal, or written conduct that is considered unwelcome, unsafe, disturbing, and/or offensive by the employee or patron.
  • Conduct or situations that pose any risk to the Museum’s staff, the Museum’s collection, and/or other program participants or Museum patrons.  


Program Guests

This Code of Conduct for Museum Education Program Guests (“Code of Conduct)” applies to speakers, panelists, and other special guests who take part in any Museum Education Program (other than as a student or other enrolled participant in such program or as a formal volunteer of the Museum) (“Guests”) and is designed to promote and preserve a safe and enjoyable environment for participants in Museum education programs (“Education Programs”). All Guests need to be aware of and avoid any conduct that may adversely affect the Museum’s educational function or may disrupt or interfere with the ability of others to pursue their education, conduct their duties and responsibilities, or participate in Museum programs and activities.

  • Guests are subject to, and expected to comply with, all applicable law, rules, and ordinances and all applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the Museum. Guests are expected to act safely and responsibly, to not be disruptive, and to respect other members of the Museum community regardless of age, ancestry, citizenship status, color, creed, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, genetic information, marital status, mental or physical disability, national origin, race, religious affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, veteran status, or other category protected by federal, state or local law. Guests must not engage in any activities or behavior on Museum premises or in connection with Museum activities, or programs that violate any applicable federal, state, or local law or that could damage the property of the Museum or of any participants or volunteers or cause harm to others.
  • Guests participating in any Education Programs are expected to express themselves in a manner that is respectful and not disruptive, disorderly, or defamatory and are responsible for conducting themselves in a manner that reflects positively upon the Museum’s reputation.
  • Guests should not distribute, communicate, or wear materials on Museum grounds or in connection with Education Programs that are obscene, sexually explicit, vulgar, hateful, bullying, violent, harmful, defamatory, or disruptive or that advocate illegal action. This includes the display of imagery or words that convey violence, weaponry, profanity, racism, or nudity, or that may depict or incite unsafe behaviors. Nothing in this policy is intended to discriminate against any person or group and does not limit or alter any person’s apparel or grooming styles dictated by one’s religion, ethnicity, or national origin. 
  • Guests may not take/use images of Education Program participants unless they have received written approval from the Museum and the program participants to do so and are expected to comply with the Museum’s associated policies. Additional guidelines and policies may be applied for research/observation/study purposes.
  • Guests may not be alone with Education Program participants who are minors and must at all times remain in line of sight of Museum staff when working with such participants. Guests should not communicate with Education Program participants outside of Museum sanctioned and/or approved events, programs, arrangements and/or systems. Any child protection concerns, including any inappropriate behavior or safety issues a Guests may witness involving a minor, must be reported immediately to Museum staff.
  • Guests are expected to comply with all Museums health and safety protocols and must not attend any Education Program events if the Guest has a temperature over 100.4 or an illness that may be contagious (such as Covid 19, pink eye, or the flu)


Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in Guest removal from the Museum and Education Program, prohibition of Museum services, and other penalties including and up to legal action.
